Accommodation spaces C16
Surface: 2611 sqm
The student dormitory, building C16, built in the ’70s, is part of the type of housing program, operates a commune found in a university campus in Bucharest, with a height of GF + 2F and an area of 2611 m.
Given the functional organizational perspective, which limited adequate accommodation services, led to the adoption of measures to rehabilitate the existing building, as well as rethinking the entire facade in order to have more light and functional spaces. The main interventions aim at removing the battlement of each room and transforming the window into a loggia, with limited access, for a much stronger connection with the outdoor space, dominated by abundant vegetation.
Inside, the bathroom has been completely reconfigured, and the accommodation spaces have been mobilized in a way to ensure superior comfort, with beds arranged in parallel and staggered to allow the introduction of a study desk, and to facilitate in conditions of safe access to all areas of the room, thus eliminating any impediment.
Thus, the space becomes more efficient and allows to ensure the comfort necessary for students to live during their studies.
In terms of internal configuration, typical function spaces, linen storage spaces and for the maintenance of the building were provided. On the ground floor, a generous conference room was proposed, which would allow for extracurricular activities and not only in an appropriate setting.
Adjacent to the existing building, an extension of a staircase as well as an elevator has been proposed to facilitate access to the covered terrace, which, following the rehabilitation of the building, will become a leisure space for students and seating area.
